From WLOSers on Sunday:

Skeleton found
WLOSer Holly Headrick said a hunter found a skeleton in the woods in Nantahala National Forest in Macon County. The hiker made the find Saturday night, police secured the site and worked in Saturday.

Holly hinted heavily that the skeleton could be that of missing hiker John Bryant, though she had no official comment for or against. Bryant and his wife Irene went hiking down in Transylvania County at the end of last year and searchers found Irene Bryant’s dead body, but never found John Bryant. Police say they’ve linked Gary Hilton to Irene Bryant’s killing, but he hasn’t been charged in her death. Hilton pleaded guilty last week to killing a Georgia woman and leaving her body in the woods.

The skeletal remains were found at just about the halfway point between the spot where Irene Bryant’s body was found in N.C. and the Ducktown, Tenn., ATM where police think Hilton tried to used a Bryant bank card to get money.
