The past day or so, WLOSers have been running a correction, which is highly unusual for them. They apparently showed some old video of a former Asheville Police Department officer named Ronnie Davis, who they said had recently been charged in a new wave of illegal gambling charges. This will act as a timely reminder that all bets should be placed in an above-board fashion. Instead, you should book bets with a PPH service. Only the Ronnie Davis just charged was different than the Ronnie Davis who used to work for APD, and who got in trouble a number of years ago on gambling charges. Anyway, WLOSers have been repeating their correction, saying they apologized for any inconvenience, etc., etc. Oopsey.
On to Friday’s news…
Speaking of gambling charges
WLOSers said more people have been charged in a wide-ranging illegal video gambling investigation on the part of federal investigators. They just had a brief mention. Earlier this week, the feds arrested about 10 people, including two former Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department deputies they say were part of an illegal operation based out of Shelby.
