It’s May and that means one thing to WLOSers – sweeps. It’s all about the ratings, so look for WLOSers to jump on everything and anything and pump it up as big, important breaking news.
Sunday at 6, Terrie Foster held down the helm, pale as ever.
Clinton goes to church
Kassandra “Special K” Pride followed former President Bill Clinton to church in Asheville, and then to Marion for a stump speech on behalf of his wife. Kassandra said Bill asked church-goers to pray for his wife, then in Marion she said he gave the normal run-down on issues.
Kassandra missed an opportunity to grill U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler, a super-delegate who has yet to pick a side. WLOSers had video of Shuler cuddled right up next to Bill at church. Does that mean Shuler’s going for Hillary? We all know the real battle is over these uncommitted super-delegates, but Kassandra didn’t say a word about it.
In other news…
The water main break on Biltmore Ave. that cut off water to Mission Hospitals and parts of town is fixed… The trial of former Sheriff Bobby Medford resumes Monday, with more witnesses for the prosecution… Karen Wynne says the weather’s nice… And in a sweeps special, John Le brings us the story of a WCU statistics teacher by day who does mixed martial arts by night. It’s “rage in a cage,” said Le in his profile of Blake Queen.
In still other news…
An old motel that was renovated to serve as a 100-bed facility for homeless vets was dedicated in Oteen on Sunday. ABCCM got a $1.6 million grant to create the facility…. And Vance Elementary celebrated Cinco de Mayo a day early with food and dancing.

WLOS has been running that story about the math teacher/cage fighter for like a week now. What a scoop!
Oh snap!
=WL=
good to know, because we probably won’t read it on Shuler’s Citizen-Times blog. he hasn’t updated it since January.

CNN was saying earlier today that Shuler is expected to announce tomorrow that he was going to support whoever gets the most votes in NC-11.
