What’s happening in the BlogAsheville-osphere

I love it when Gordon over at Scrutiny Hooligans does a little round-up of what he’s seeing in the blogosphere. So I think I’ll do the same.

Distort the Info has this post about his car getting hit by a paintballer on the same day he gets listed on BlogAsheville:

if it wasn’t a conspiracy to scare me into silence and just some bored asshole teenager; nevertheless, no stone will be unturned to bring the perpetrator to justice.
by justice, i mean that when i find that little shit i will strip him down and individually pluck every pube from his tiny postpubescent nutsack.

Keep us posted on that one, will ya?

Over at Ephemera, Ashvegas has been tagged with a meme. I’m a contrarian and don’t usually like to play along, but in this case, I can’t resist. It’s easy, and I love books. So I’m supposed to give you the sixth sentence of page 161 of the book i’m reading right now. So here it is, from Bangkok Haunts by John Burdett:

“Yes. You guessed anyway from the scars. I made it obvious enough.”

If you haven’t read Burdette’s series of Bangkok thrillers, you seriously need to check them out. How can you go wrong with Thai whores, drugged out CIA agents and moody transsexuals, known as katoeys, in Thailand?

On a sad note, Marie at Blue Ridge Blog lost her companion, Harley. Read about the tail-wagging love of her life here and offer a word of support.

To pick back up, go over to A Girl Who Wears Glasses and watch the video she posted of “the best wedding dance ever.” It’s not that long, but you’ve got to stick with it, and you’ll be justly rewarded.

Glad you decided to play along with the meme. By the way, my site name is spelled "ephemera"–it’s a fancy name for "old paper". I have a category dedicated to Asheville ephemera and also one dedicated to items from the lcoal Malaprops bulletin board.

I knew you had to be a book-lover. Normally, I eschew such meme games, too, but this was one I really thought was interesting. And anything that promotes reading and books can’t be all bad, right?

Anyway, I appreciate the shout-out and your kind participation. (Please let Gordon know that I had also thought of him for the meme when tagging BlogAsheville.) It’s a wonderful blog–something I read almost daily. Keep up the great work.

I saw that Distort the Info post right after I posted the BlogAsheville roundup. I’m so glad you included it here.

All you Ashvegas readers, if you aren’t checking out the talent on the BlogAsheville blogroll, then you’re missing out on scores of fascinating perspective of this town we call home.
