Wendell Berry to give reading Wednesday at Warren Wilson College

Wendell Berry is my hero. Note here:

To the Campus Community:
I am writing to remind you of the reading by Wendell Berry, which will occur next Wednesday evening (November 9) at 8:00 pm in the Chapel. The reading is reserved for the campus community until 7:45 when doors will open to the public. Canon Lounge will be set up as an overflow area with a webcast.
We are most fortunate that eminent writer, scholar, and conservationist, Wendell Berry, will honor Warren Wilson with a two-day visit on November 8 and 9. His visit is a great privilege for us, as Mr. Berry turns down most invitations these days, opting instead to spend his energy on issues closer to his home in Port Royal, Kentucky. Fortunately, our mission and Triad, our long history as a Work College, and our emphasis on sustainability education are all of great interest to him. Thus we hope his visit will be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship.
For those of you still becoming acquainted with his work and his stature, Wendell Berry has been called “the prophetic American voice of our day,” a writer who offers “a future of hope and optimism” even in the midst of chaos and recession. He is a novelist, poet, and essayist, with much of his work deeply rooted in place. He taught for many years at the University of Kentucky, while writing and farming 125 acres of land. …
Plan to be at the Chapel early on Wednesday night for what will surely be a rich and memorable experience.
