WCU football takes losing to new low; students plan sit-in

Western Carolina University football has sucked for some 20 years now, and it’s really starting to get frustrating. Especially since the Catamounts were truly exciting to watch under legendary coach Bob Waters.

But alas, WCU lost to Samford on Saturday to remain winless this year. Story from the Asheville Citizen-Times:

Samford (3-2, 1-1) limited WCU (0-5, 0-3) to just 48 yards rushing and 163 yards of total offense. The Catamounts have lost their first five games for the first time since 1981.

The last time a WCU team dropped its first six games was in 1953, when the Cats started 0-8 before beating Emory & Henry.

That’s pitiful. Now I’m getting word that a couple of students are planning to pitch a tent somewhere on campus and stay camped out until their team wins. Which could be awhile.
