The wide, leafy West Asheville avenue has long been a favored haunt for candy-seekers. The move to provide barricades is one that the neighborhood hopes will ensure safety. But it will also likely draw even more trick-or-treaters.
The Brew Pump, the new tap bar inside the CitiStop gas station at the corner of Haywood Road and Vermont Avenue, will do its part to participate. The Brew Pump is hosting a costume contest and encouraging zombie walkers left stranded by the cancellation of this year’s Asheville Zombie Walk to use the location as a meet-up spot. A group is planning to meet up between 5 and 5:30 p.m. at the Pump and head down to The Odditorium and Atlamont Brewing before turning back.
The Brew Pump will have a food truck, the Bom Bus, parked in its parking lot. I’ve heard there may also be a second foot truck parked at the end of Vermont.

“Downtown” WAVL will be a busy place Thursday night. Leave your car at home to avoid the parking woes. Asheville On Bikes will host a free, secure bike corral in the parking lot of the West Village Market from 5-9pm. Ride your bike to the fun, leave it in the excellent care of our volunteers, and pick it up when you’re ready to go home.
“foot truck”… ha, I saw what you did there!
