Two new features at McCormick Field

Two of the biggest changes at the Asheville Tourists’ historic McCormick Field in Ashvegas are the Pepsi Pavilion and the Asheville Citizen-Times Clubhouse. The Pepsi Pavilion here on top is an all-you-can-eat sort of buffet until the end of the first inning. The area was open to the public, so I’m not sure if you have to pay extra for that or what. See that hillside above the pavilion? That area has an old grandstand leftover from the days when the field was also used as a race track. It’s going to be cleaned up and next year there will be some lawn seating up there.

The clubhouse area is what some people are referring to as the luxury box. There’s an inside area with a ton of food and private restrooms. If you buy a ticket for this area (I think the package of tickets they sell for this area work out to like $45 per seat per game) you also get some preferred parking up close to the field. It looked quite nice, and there was a great view of the ballfield. But I don’t know if I would pay $45 a ticket to see the Tourists.
