It was a pretty cool scene down in the River District on Saturday. A team of gardeners was working with dirt and mulch to transform a giant concrete slab into a community garden. Along the wall surrounding them, young men with spray paint cans created their art. The one aspect of this that I didn’t like was that I saw a couple of the graffiti artists simply chucking their empty cans up on the embankment surrounding them. What’s up with that?

Could have just been force of habit…
Paint disposal is a serious environmental issue. Maybe for taggers, litter is a political statement. If the culture of graffiti is disregard for other people’s and the public’s property, then why would they bother to pick up their trash?
