It’s time for a brief time-out to say a special thank you to all the loyal readers of Ashvegas. In the big annual celebration of the local blogosphere on Saturday night, BlogAsheville voters named Ashvegas “best blog.” Knowing the passion, talent and creativity of many local bloggers, I have to shake my head and say that I’m simply humbled.
When I started blogging more than three years ago, I had no idea how it would open up my life. I’ve become even more engaged with my community, I’ve met some amazing, amazing people, and I’ve learned a new way of communicating. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve pissed off John Boyle. And I’ve found a passionate community that continues to inspire me.
We bloggers should really stop and give special thanks to Gordon and Jennifer for their work in organizing an incredible party (don’t forget to thank the sponsors, too!)
I plan to keep doing what I’m doing. Over the years, this blog has changed as I have changed, and I’m sure you’ll continue to see changes. But I’m sure you’re all too familiar with what drives me — this wonderful community we call Asheville. Thank you, again, loyal readers and voters all. Keep reading these pages. I’ll keep trying to make it fun and interesting, and I hope you’ll keep participating, as well.
Here are the winners, courtesy of Gordon.

A fantastic night… so lovely to have met you and the rest of the gang!
Ash, I voted in a bunch of categories for you. You’re simply the BEST!!!
"Blogger You’d Most Like To See Naked
A Girl Who Wears Glasses"
Quadruple word — although I wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to gaze upon EM in all her MILSN glory.
Despite having been a reporter halfway around the world, you still haven’t lost your Asheville song, Jason. Thanks for that.
You say you have pissed off John Boyle as if it’s a bad thing…
Congrats! And thank you!
(But I’m still perturbed that you weren’t up for the beer category.)
