Hi Jason.Very few have heard the music of John Cage. But much of Western art, music, dance and theater produced today bears his influence. 60 years ago, he was pioneering approaches that are still edgy, but are now everywhere. And he spent some of his creative formative years in Black Mountain with Merce Cunningham (his partner) and others, pioneering important aspects of today’s culture.This weekend, his “49 Waltzes for the Asheville Airport” and other compositions will be performed and his legacy explored in a 3-day conference (actually 4 days, since Mark Koven, assistant professor of Art, will kick things off with a light projection downtown Thursday evening at 7:33 p.m.Click here to learn more and a chance to guess why Koven chose 7:33 p.m. instead of 7:30.Hope you’re well and can post about this. Yes, indeed it did happen with the Northern facing side of the BBT building lit up with projections from the direction of 5 Walnut between 7:33 to 9:33 on the dot. Maybe you were on the south side of the building?!
It was pretty cool – with questions about John Cage posed on the top 8 (ish) stories of the BB&T building.
Was at the bbt building at 7:35 and saw … Nothing and no one. Where and what happened?
