On Twitter, @hopicecream reports that the Circle in the The Square pizza place and the Rise N Shine Cafe were broken into last night. Both businesses are located in the same shopping center at the corner of Merrimon Avenue and Edgewood Road. The break-in method was the same, according to the tweets – break glass, steal cash register.

I heard that Noi's Thai restaurant on Merrimon got hit, too, but that they caught the guy and charged him with restaurant break-ins going back several years.
I always have kept my cash register drawers empty and open at night, thieves most likely won't destroy or steal a visibly worthless register.
This is terrible!! The amount of break ins and robberies around here seems to be increasing A LOT lately. Sorry for the business owners. 🙁 Hope AVL PD is on the case!

The guy at Chameleon got hit last month. He said they know what time the police shift changes and do it then. He said its happened twice, and now they never leave any money in the register.
Beans and Berries was also broken into in the exact same fashion last week.
