The Rebelles at LEAF

Ashvegas hit LEAF all day Saturday, soaking up the wonderful rays, laidback vibe and kick-ass music. We’ll bring you more of a review, and some loverly pix, in just a few.

But first, we’ll start with Friday night at LEAF, which we did not attend. But the Beer Guy did, and he blogged about it. He enjoyed the music, but he really got into the Rebelles and their show.

Asheville’s own burlesque strippers were hotter than ever. This was kinky stuff – going way beyond their recent gig at Asheville Community Theatre.

After clearing the room of all children and teens, the Rebelles did an eye-popping cabaret thing charged with sexual energy. There was strip tease down to pasties. Lots of sensual dancing and touching of each other. And in one number, two performers dripped hot candle wax on each other. Oy! The crowd ate it up.

The show ended with a big dance go-go in which the audience joined some of the perfomers in shake, shake, shaking the night away. As usual, their band was smokin’.

Somebody get the Beer Guy a heart pill. Sounds like they really worked up the crowd. All those tents and VW campers must have been rockin’ Friday night.

Hmmm, let’s see… nine months from Oct. 20 would be July, 2007. We’ll check back with the hippie camper crowd to see if there’s a mini baby boom, with tykes named “Page Turner” and “Betty Cocker.”
