Triple shooting
WLOSers led with the news an interview of a pregnant woman who was one of three people shot and injured by a gunman who entered Stephens-Lee Recreation Center on Monday night and opened fire.

Charu Kumaria had the interview with Akiba Plummer, seven months pregnant, who as shot through the thigh. She had good quotes. She said she was just gonna lay down, but when she kept hearing shots, she got up and ran. She said she had no idea of a motive, just that somebody was “mad enough to come in with a gun.” She said she’s sad that the center will have a bad name because of this incident. She said she was thankful for all the people who helped her at the scene.

In other cop news…
Asheville police arrested two 16-year-olds in connection with a shooting on July 15 at Chammies car wash on Hendersonville Road. Police described the incident as a drug deal gone bad. Two 15-year-olds were also arrested and charged. All were charged with assault and robbery…. Deandre Curry reached a plea agreement with prosecutors down in Transylvania County. The young guy was charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 3-month-old baby. He’ll get two or three years. The district attorney in the case said there wasn’t enough evidence of malice or intest to go after stiffer charges…. A church pastor at Anchor Baptist Church in Transylvania County facing sex abuse charges from 30 years ago down in S.C. turned himself in to Greenville police… Hendersonville police arrested a guy they think robbed a couple of pizza delivery dudes, as well as a couple of other people… And Buncombe cops arrested an unregistered sex offender out in Fairview.

Motorcycle wreck
A 26-year-old died about 2 a.m. when the motorcycle he was driving ran off Patton Avenue in front of Groce Funeral home and hit a wall.

SUV demolishes credit union
Terrie Foster dusted off some old news and did a story anyway. A teen driver behind the wheel of an SUV ran through the Telco Credit Union on Leicester Highway on Saturday. The wreck did so much damage that the trailer-sized credit union office had to be closed for good. The credit union is opening up a new location a little ways away. Everybody was happy nobody was in the building when the SUV rammed the place. The teen, who cops say fell asleep at the wheel, has been charged with reckless driving.

In other news…
Asheville firefighters are getting ready for Bele Chere. They’re prepared for foul weather and dehydration and will have first aid booths up and ready… The town of Brevard is removing flouride from its treated water after one resident complained about potention health problems. Public health officials say flouride in water actually helps fight tooth decay. The town will save about $5,000 a year by not using flouride in its water… And the Grove Park Inn is donating flags it flies over top of the resort. Go to flagdonations@groveparkinn for more info.

In still other news…
John “Punnyman” Le did a story about the 48-hour Film Project and how some 41 teams participated and made weird little movies like “The Ramen-ing” and “Van… The Musical” and “Convergence.” The movies were screened at Asheville Pizza on Tuesday night.
