The Market Place restaurant getting major renovation

Asheville’s venerable The Market Place restaurant, which has been doing the farm-to-table concept for decades and is known as one of the finest fine-dining eateries, is getting a major renovation to the front of the house. Owner William Dissen says a new bar being built at the front of the restaurant will give the restaurant a chance to combine a great restaurant experience with a great bar experience. With an industrial feel and concrete bar top, the bar will offer music later in the evenings. The restaurant isn’t changing what it does best with local food, Dissen says, just making some adjustments. The restaurant remains open while the construction work gets done. The new bar area should be open the first week in April.
