The Breeders coming to Asheville: Messina to play the Pig

Share

Pollstar has it on their Concert Wire:

Finally, we have a few new dates for The Breeders – June 12 in Asheville, NC; July 10 in Atlantic City, NJ; and July 12 in Sayerville, NJ.

Looks like they’ll play the Orange Peel. Wow.

And the Citizen-Times says Jo Dee Messina will play the Fiddlin’ Pig, of all places:

Jo Dee Messina, one of the biggest female country stars in recent years, will play at The Fiddlin’ Pig on May 28 in a new concert series the restaurant is doing with KISS-FM.

Thanks for the tip. Perfect father’s day present for my husband. I think he would run away with Kim Deal if she offered and I don’t think I could take her, she’s pretty bad ass (in an awe inspiring way). It will be interesting to see how much of a draw the Breeders get at the Peel.

The Breeders remain one of my favorite bands of the 1990s and certainly are one of the best things to come out of Dayton, Ohio since Edwin Moses and Erma Bombeck. (OK, I don’t mean that. I was never into Erma, God rest her yenta soul.)

I adored Kim Deal, greasy hair, zits, quirky guitar riffs and all. The voice of angel flowed from that linebacker cum skater-punk chick. More people need to dig this band. They could kick the girls from Sleater-Kinney’s ass without even breaking a sweat. (S-K rocks, too, but come oooooonnn!!! These are the Breeders, dammmit!!!)
