Here’s what made the news Sunday night on WLOS:
• There was a convenience store robbery in Fletcher, and the robber actually apologized before stealing $400 out of the cash register. He told the store clerk and a customer that he needed money to feed his family, according to WLOSers.
• There was a high-speed chase somewhere in Henderson County. I don’t remember any details, because WLOSers failed to tell me why I should care.
• A man in Haywood County has been charged with assault with deadly weapon by dog after he used his pit bull “Champ” to attack a woman who came to his house, according to WLOSers. Again, why do I care?
• There was a brush fire in Madison County near Marshall. Nobody injured. Under control. Burned 2 acres.
• It was Homeless Person Memorial Day in Asheville on Sunday. A group of people attended a church service and honored 20 homeless people who died of everything from hate crimes and exposure to natural causes.
• Over in the Weather Center, Karen cranked up the snow sirens by telling us that WNC counties are under winter weather warnings and winter weather advisories. That’s just fancy weather talk for the following: counties along the Tennessee line with probably get 3 to 5 inches of snow through Tuesday; while Buncombe County is looking like we could get 1 to 3 inches of snow through Tuesday.
• Leigh Ann Long was at the anchor desk. No smart-girl glasses. In the weather center, Karen Wynne was wearing a purple jacket and black pants that looked a bit old-fashioned; while reporter Courtney Brennan sported an yellow satin blouse so bright that I thought it was Easter Sunday.
