Table’s Sunday take on fried chicken: A Chinese influence

Share

Table restaurant in Asheville recently announced it was offering a Sunday special for $20 per person, with 20 percent off select wines. Throughout the summer, Chef Jacob Sessoms and his co-chef Matt Dawes are riffing on fried chicken and traditional sides.

Here’s today’s menu, from loyal reader Michelle:

This week it’s a Chinese-influenced fried chicken served with XO, seared wax beans, shrimp & ginger potato pancake.

And since I had no idea what XO sauce was, I looked it up and it’s made from roughly chopped dried seafoods including scallops, dried fish, and shrimp and cooked with chili peppers, onions, garlic, and oil.

What a pretentious place. I hated everything about that place when I lived there. I avoided walking by there just so I wouldn't have to look at it. If that place were a person, it would be a hipster.
