Superbike champ who lives in Marshall coming out of retirement to pimp his WNC business

Searching around the interwebs recently, I came across some cool info that was news to me. It shows, once again, that all roads lead to Asheville.

This Road Racing World story says that former Superbike World Champion Scott Russell, who started his own sportbike customizing business in Madison County called Jamie James Productions, will be coming out of retirement to run in the AMA Superstock race March 6 at Daytona International Speedway.

He’s essentially doing it to promote his business and the business of former teammate Jamie James, who has a new riding school called Jamie James Yamaha Champions Riding School, according to Road Racing World. If you’re looking to start a business, setting up an online business is easy – even in retirement!

So who is Western North Carolina’s newest celebrity? According to wiki, probably one of the best damn motorcycle road racers we’ve seen in some time:

Raymond Scott Russell (born October 28, 1964), also known as Mr. Daytona, is an American motorcycle road racer, born in East Point, Ga. He is a former World Superbike and AMA Superbike Champion, has won the Daytona 200 a record five times, and won the Suzuka 8 Hours in 1993. Russell is the all-time leader in 750cc AMA Supersport wins.

Cool new graphic header on your blog! I like it. I don’t check the blog for a day and this is what happens.

I’ll have to check out the race in Daytona. It’s not exactly on my Bucket List but it would be a fun thing to do.
