Press release here:

Studio 103 in Black Mountain is proud to present “Floating Women”, a collection of recent paintings by North Carolina artist Les Caison III.  The free Artist Reception is on THURSDAY night, October 28th from 5-8 pm.  The exhibit runs through November 26, 2010.  This will be our final exhibit!

“Floating Women” is  accompanied by 50 intimate small-scale paintings of hearts.  “It is time to release thoughts and feelings regarding the beautiful matters of the heart,” says Caison.  He will be awarding the winner of the HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST one of these priceless heart paintings.

Les meshes the oil paint with his love for graphite line — the result is a hot mess of the creative process chock full of emotion and story.  1000 words are in each painting.  What will you see?

Caison is collected internationally.  He has 14 solo exhibitions under his belt.  Les has juried several exhibitions including the upcoming “LOCALS Only” show at the Kinston Community for the Arts in November. He is a 2003 recipient of the Asheville Area Arts Council Regional Artist Project Grant.  Commissions include a 2008 mural for Greensboro’s Elsewhere Collaborative museum, and a 2010 portrait of the late local legend, attorney Deane Bell on permanent display at the Randolph County Courthouse, Asheboro NC.
