Stephanie’s Id, still getting rave reviews

The Mountain Times has the story:

During the summer of 2006 one song seemed to capture the spirit of the vacation months as it leapt out of the radio. “White Guys Selling Cars” by the Asheville indie pop band Stephanie’s Id was funny, upbeat and incredibly catchy, buoyed along by the unique vocals of lead singer Stephanie Morgan.

Stephanie Morgan will bring her powerful pop band, Stephanie’s Id, to the Boone Saloon on Thursday, February 21st.

A year-and-a-half later the band is going stronger than ever, with an incredible new album called Grus Americanus. The album, released late in 2007, has received rave reviews in Paste, Amplifier, Harp and other music magazines.

Stephanie’s Id returns to Boone for a show at the Boone Saloon on Thursday, February 21st. The music starts around 10:30 p.m.

In addition to Morgan, Stephanie’s Id features the musical contributions of Chuck Lichtenberger and Michael Libramento. The band’s sound is an ultra-modern amalgam of power pop with elements of rock, dance, electronica and jazz.

“We always play with heart and lust and gusto, because there’s no point in doing anything else,” said Morgan.

Stephanie’s Id has been voted “Best Indie Band” in the Asheville area for the past two years and Grus Americanus is slowly but surely sweeping the nation thanks to strong songs like the soaring “Unmistakably Love.”

Jack Rubin of The Big Takeover Magazine described the sound of the new album as, “childlike and grown-up sounds mixing with poetry and pop. Angst and sorrow swirling around with dramatic hop and joyfulness.”
