With Russ Bowen at the helm, WLOSers led off the Sunday night news with a story that was second tier on Saturday – cops in Hendersonville are looking for a dude who stabbed his wife in the Dana community of Hendersonville. Must have been a pretty slow news day. Russ looked sharp as a take with a cool pink tie at the anchor desk.

McDowell County deputy Brandon Watson goes on trial starting Monday. He’s charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and reckless driving after a wreck earlier this year in which he was traveling more than 100 mph down I-40 without his blue lights on and crashed into a car, killing toddler Kennedy Frye and injuring a couple of her family members… Duke Energy says it still needs people to conserve energy during this heat wave… It’s almost the end of the season for public pools in our area… Teachers in Buncombe County start back to work on Monday, with students in the county returning to school on Thursday and Ashvegas city schools headed back on Wednesday… And Mike Cuevas says we might get some rain by the end of the week.
