“The Real Dirt on Farmer John” Potluck and a Movie! 5pm Sunday April 11th at Reynolds High School.

Come and celebrate Earth Day with us! Slow Food Asheville will host a screening of this epic tale of a maverick Midwestern farmer at the Reynolds High School Minitorium. Farmer John is the true story of a young farmer who manages to meld the traditions of family farming with the power of art and free expression. This sometimes silly sometimes serious movie is a powerful story of transformation and renewal, it heralds a resurrection of farming in America. Defying all odds, John gradually transforms his land into a revolutionary farming community, a cultural mecca, where people work and flourish providing fresh vegetables and herbs to thousands of people every week.

Please bring a potluck dish to share if you wish (no alcohol please, we are inviting teens to join us and want everyone to feel comfortable). We will eat from 5pm-6pm and the movie will start at 6 pm with a $5 donation. Proceeds will go towards Slow Food Asheville’s ongoing educational work. We will host a discussion of the movie afterwards. See below for directions.
