Shuler says he might be interested in Nancy Pelosi’s seat

U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler made an interesting statement today at the Council for Independent Business Owners luncheon here in Asheville, according to a spy o’ mine.

In his discussion with the CIBO group, the topic turned to House speaker Nancy Pelosi, whom the group generally despises as a whacked out liberal bent on the destruction of the United States. During the discussion, Shuler said something to the effect that he hadn’t completely ruled out running for her job if he wins re-election in November.

There’s no telling just how serious Shuler is about that, but it would be an interesting position for a politician who has really carved out a niche for himself as a Blue Dog Democrat unafraid to buck the system. He holds what would be considered both conservative and liberal positions on issues.

We shall see.

Now if Asheville had their own district, that would be nice so we wouldn't have to settle for someone to apease the hicks in Haywood and Leicester.

Her seat as the Majority leader, and she is neck in neck in her District as well, and Heath will win, just because HIs district isnt Downtown Asheville.

"Better pick than Nancy, who will be loosing her seat in a couple of months"

Her seat in San Francisco? You want to put money on that?

Shuler, OTOH, is going to need votes from Asheville to win, and there are plenty on the left who'd be glad to send that Blue Dog to the pound.

If there's an IQ test, he doesn't have a chance.
