I caught this in the comments section of Asheville City Councilman Gordon Smith’s blog, and I’m intrigued:
On another IT front, Ms. Bradley reports:
“We are weeks away from launching a social media plan. As you know, we are restructuring staff in the community relations division so we can put more focus on all electronic forms of communication including the Web site. We are planning on supplementing internal staff resources to establish a presence and generate good quality content through contracted resources.”
So what does this mean? City employees actively blogging and Facebooking and Twittering? Communicating directly with taxpayers?
This is especially interesting considering Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy’s recent social media scolding at last weekend’s council retreat.
This is definitely worth a follow-up – I’d like to know more about what this all means.
