Here’s the press release, passed along by loyal reader Zoe. This sounds like a great party and a great cause:
Saturday December 19th, boasts a dance party not to be missed.
UNHUNGRIFY, originally poised to be a more intimate birthday celebration for a few December babies, morphed into a benefit for Conscious Alliance. More acts were added to the bill and the ownership requested that the party be moved from the Hookah Bar to Club 828.
Conscious Alliance established a presence in Asheville early in its existence and has found progressive and innovative ways to enlist the art and music worlds in the fight against hunger, across the United States. All donations will be matched by an anonymous donor and serve as a final push for Conscious Alliance’s Holiday Meal Drive.
Performances include sets from local experimental electonic trio RBTS Win, multi-genre DJ/Producer Marley Carroll, and VJ Megan McKissack. The latest addition to the bill is Panther God, a newcomer to the Asheville electronic music scene who has collaborated or shared stages with greats such as Prefuse 73, Eliot Lipp, Flying Lotus and Daedalus. Panther God made an appearance at this year’s Trinumeral Festival and was named Best Electronic Artist by The New Times, Miami.
The cover for this event is a suggested donation of $10 and the event will be Club 828 signature style, continuing into the wee hours.
