WLOSers have been giving big play to a couple of teen-aged dumbasses who have been going around town spray painting "Satan rules" and "666" on church vans and buildings. WLOSer Susan Munday first gave this story play Wednesday, making much more out of it than it deserved. We can only assume that the vandals saw the coverage, got a kick out of it, and went back out to hit another church with some upside down crosses because WLOSers had another big report Thursday about a second church being defaced.
Let’s just let the police do their work and catch the dummies. Then plaster their names and faces all over the top of the news, kay? Because that’s all the attention they deserve.
Diva Darcel and Larry Bluntman got a kick out of a story about some Beatles pictures being found that show the moptops smoking some weed. You could hear some audible laughter inside the WLOS studio when the Bluntman delivered his intro. Darcel sat there like a bump on a log, then said something like, "Well, they’re still cute in those photos, aren’t they?" Oy vey.
Finally, it’s been interesting to watch a story about an alleged hate crime evolve into not much more than a simple assault case. WLOSers first brought us the story about a Jan. 11 beating on Wednesday. They said police were checking it out as a hate crime because the beaten man said he was whupped because he was gay. Not sure why it took a couple of weeks for WLOS to pick up on an incident that happened Jan. 11. Nor are we sure why it took them so long, especially when it was one of their own employees who reported to police that she saw the beaten man walking along the highway after the fateful beat-down.
Other media outlets picked up on the suspected "hate crime," as they all termed it. But then on Thursday, the Henderson County sheriff said it wasn’t a hate crime at all. Not sure what all changed, but that’s now the cops’ story. Interesting, no?
