Deb is so right. WLOS is just a local tv station and its reporters and anchors are far from being star journalists. I’m sort of sick of them all.
Channel 13 is a place where they get some small town experience and move on.
Thank God they got rid of Candice Little a few years ago. She was horrible! An ex-Miss Georgia who could not even read the teleprompter. She went to a station in Charlotte, but I don’t think she lasted there.

Deb, Deb, Deb. Sorry, but you just don’t get it. Ash, however, does. Viewers who live in Greenville, SC watch WYFF for their news. Those in Spartanburg, SC tune-in WSPA. Western North Carolinians who want LOCAL news have one choice. News 13. You may watch a lot of NBC & CBS network programming, as do many of us up here in WNC. But for news of the day in the mountains, WLOS is the only place to go. News 13 anchors and reporters ARE local celebrities of sorts. People see them out-and-about, recognize them and say "hi, aren’t you______________?" If you’re from around here, you wouldn’t recognize WYFF or WSPA staffers if they walked past you in the grocery store. It’s that simple. Hope this helps Ash!
4, 7 and Faux 21 rarely have news about Asheville. Faux 21’s 10 o’clock News used to do a live gig from City County Plaza back in the day, but I don’t think they do that anymore.
Besides, WLOS’ "news" is just so much more funny!

Leighton makes the blog! hurrah!
Deb, you hit it — i focus on WLOS because they’re based in Asheville. that’s it. i rarely look at 4 or 7 for local news.

OK then, but please explain why WLOS TV seems to get so attention here? Just what is so interesting about them just going about their job? You seem to present them as "celebrities" — which they are not. I don’t get it.
What about the two other tv channels that make up the WNC-Upstate SC tv market (WYFF Ch 4, WSPA Ch 7)? Of course, these channels are not based in Asheville, but why not include some occasional mention of them, and what is happening at those stations. After all, they come into our living rooms just as much as WLOS.
why is it that most Republican volunteers and candidates always look so retarded?

Congratulations, Leighton.

Russ Bowen is one of the few SOLID anchor/reporters left at New 13. He covers important stories and so does Ash. It’s obviously not about any sort of "fascination". It’s just too bad both of them got stuck having to go inside the local Republican Headquarters. Talk about a House Of Horrors!!!
Also keep in mind, Deb, that Ash even posts occasionaly regarding former WLOSers like Frank Kracher. Now there’s an ANCHORMAN who should be back on TV in WNC!

also, why not give the man credit for being the best journalist at wlos…by far!
p.s. that cameraman has won numerous awards, including nc photographer of the year…they are one of the best teams in the country.

Deb, he turns up at a lot of news events that i show up at. There’s no "fascination." Look around and you’ll see photos of whatever WLOSer i run into.
