The Asheville Citizen-Times’ story today about space being up for sale in the S&W Cafeteria building in downtown has a passing note on the Funny Business Comedy Club located in the building’s basement. Here’s the mention:
Building owner Steve Moberg bought the S&W building at the intersection of Haywood Street and Patton Avenue for $2.45 million in August 2007.
He extensively renovated the building, putting residential condos in the third floor and in a floor and a half he added to its roof. Moberg also opened the upscale S&W Steak and Wine restaurant in what was the main cafeteria space.
Sadie’s Seafood Pub also sits in the first floor, there is a bar on the second and a comedy club in the basement recently closed, Carter said. A message on the club’s telephone says it will move to a new location.
Comedy is hot in Asheville. We have active improv comedy groups, the great La Zoom Comedy Bus and the Asheville Disclaimer Comedy Lounge. So what will be next for the Funny Business?
