Reigning Sound’s first studio album in five years drops later this month

From The Sunday Paper:

Reigning Sound frontman Greg Cartwright’s popularity may not have soared after crafting a well-received comeback album for Mary Weiss (lead singer of the ’60s girl group the Shangri-Las) and backing her on the subsequent tour, but it focused much deserved attention on the talented Asheville-based songwriter.

The Weiss connection, and to a lesser extent Cartwright’s association with the Detroit Cobras, attracted Little Steven’s notice, resulting in substantial airplay on his popular weekly syndicated “Underground Garage” radio show.

All of this makes Cartwright something of a hot commodity these days. So while the world awaits Reigning Sound’s first studio album in five years (due in mid-August), the indie label Goner Records re-releases this impromptu live show, recorded in 2005 and previously only available as a limited CD-R as a benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims.
