Homebasedbusinessmom.com has the following rant about real estate in Asheville and Weaverville:
I admit it….
This is the third summer we’ve had our home in the Asheville / Weaverville NC area for sale.
Yes…you read correctly – the THIRD summer.
I try to stay positive – as I invest more and more money into this house
I am hoping to leave.
Nothing against this house….it’s stunning. The yard is stunning…..it’s like living in a little utopia. This is probably the nicest house we’ll ever live in. BUT – for us….we like the idea of moving around….new places…new adventures. It’s hard when you feel “stuck”. In any situation….that’s tough.
But when does “stuck” become – GLUED?
When do you say enough? When do you say…..”The real estate market sucks.” Even in an area where it doesn’t suck “as bad” – it sucks.
Is there a time limit? Is there an insanity limit? How about a “house for sale” conversation limit?? I don’t know about you other sellers in the Asheville / Weaverville area – but I’m getting tired of talking about “houses not selling” in this area. Aren’t you? That nail has been driven, pounded and cemented. We get it….but we can’t help ourselves. Somehow talking about this bummer helps ease our pain – but eventually it gets old – no matter which way you analyze it.
So…on the bright side – what is selling?? You lucky folks in the $250,000 or less selling range – you’ve got a chance. If you’re under $200,000 – even better. If you’re over $250,000 – and especially if you’re over $300,000…..you can hear the crickets chirping. It’s quiet. Almost no showings…..or absolutely no showings…..or worse….Buyers that want you to lasso the moon and hang it from the nearest mountain crest for them to view whenever they like. Hey Buyers…I’ve got a MOON for you!
And speaking of these fussy, want-it-all buyers – weren’t most of you in the very same situation us sellers were in not so long ago? Now your real estate poopy doesn’t stink because you’re no longer a seller? I’m afraid not….you STILL stink with your high and mighty attitude and low-ball offers. We can smell you a mile away!
So what to do?
Stinky Buyers. Bummed out Sellers.
When do we say Uncle and either take our home off the market or literally…..GIVE IT AWAY?

That was really great information here. Thanks for sharing those post.
HA! HA!! Too bad they can’t sell the house, well let me tell ya, I can’t afford to f**cking rent in this OVERRATED community called assville! I have been here for 2 years 2 long and it’s WAY over priced to live here as a renter and as a parent. I don’t buy, I rent. For all you suckers out there who will comment "move back to where you came from"……I am!! I moved here for a job and took a big paycut and thought my life was going to be a little more peaceful here, but it hasn’t been that way. The rental property here sucks, the landlords are way out of line with the rinky dink s*** holes they rent and ask for an abundance of cash, it stinks all around!!
Yeah, they liked (the idea of) moving around to new places and adventures so much that they bought a house and got tied down by it. I suppose they don’t mean literally….."GIVE IT AWAY" either.
That what happens when you by a house way too big. Just to please your big ass ego. I’m sure you’ll foreclose on it and make us pick up the pieces. Hope you end up in trailer. That might be more your style.
Wahhhhhh! I can’t sell my overpriced house! wahhhhhhhh! Until this "home based business mom" realizes that Asheville nor Weaverville nor Western North Carolina for that matter, supports people in that income range she’s going to be waiting a lot longer than three years …..
"We can smell you a mile away!"
Something else smells. If you bought too much house in the bubble, then you’re probably not going anywhere for a while, and as long as you’re not upside-down you’re still better off than many. If you don’t want to be stuck somewhere, then rent.
uggghhhhhh…….. Im all about feeling for sellers right now, but sounds like the situation is you should STOP putting money in your house and either price it right (since 3 summers ago it will still hot) or happily stay put.
Yes! Its tough for the 350K plus crowd, but…. boohoo.. If your not in forclosure, or trying to negotiate a short sale.. please save the tears. There are souls suffering in our community..
But there is light! Sales are on the up! THANK GOD!
The lack of sympathy I have for this whiner is astounding.
