From Jon Rich and the Asheville Citizen-Times:
ASHEVILLE — The Muppets once took Manhattan, and this weekend some strictly more adult descendants will invade the River Arts District’s Magnetic Field on behalf of the Asheville Puppetry Alliance for “Wham! Bam! Puppet Slam!”
“A puppet slam is an open forum variety show format,” explained Valerie Meiss, local puppeteer and show co-organizer. “Some acts may be accessible for all audiences, but others may be edgier, possibly offensive to certain crowds.
Tickets: $10 advance, $12 door. Visit www.themagneticfield.com or call 257-4003.
“Pieces vary from straight-up comedy to dark humor to the surreal and avant-garde. Each piece is under 10 minutes, which is prerequisite for the variety atmosphere. I think a mature enough 16-year-old would love the show, but the 18-plus+ disclaimer explains to potential audiences that the humor and themes conveyed in this show are for adults.”
What: Wham! Bam! Puppet Slam!
When: 7 and 10 p.m., Friday-Saturday.
Where: The Magnetic Field, 372 Depot St.

I heard from one legal beagle that the Community Relations Council is in violation of the regulations that pertain to non profits and public information. Seems that they did not follow procedures as required by those regulations and thus all their comments made during their meetings about the former director and their tax problems must be made available to the general public. Talk about who let the dogs out! Not only this but the city and county since they have funded and are funding it now would also be liable for any resulting action taken by any party who felt injured by those comments! That will sure look good in an election year!
