Professor Cuevas, I presume?

It looks like we at Ashvegas have to take back everything we’ve been saying about Mike Cuevas – or should we say Professor Cuevas.

Moonlighting Mike is an adjunct professor with UNC Ashvegas’ Department of Atmospheric Sciences, a well-regarded weather-guessers school. Seriously – they do some good work over there. Here’s the link.

Here’s the rundown:

Fall 2005, the Department of Atmospheric Sciences has 3 full-time faculty members, one half-time professor, one adjunct professor, and one secretary. They are:
Professors:
Dr. Alex Huang, Chair, RBH 236B, 232-5157,ahuang@unca.edu
Dr. Ed Brotak, RBH 234, 232-5160, brotak@unca.edu
Associate Professor:
Dr. Doug Miller, RBH 236A, 232-5158, dmiller@unca.edu

Associate Professor:
Dr. Chris Hennon, RBH 236C, 232-5159

Adjunct Professor: Mr. Mike Cuevas, WLOS Chief Meteorologist, mcuevas@wlos.com, 651-4633.

Lecturer: Mr. Frank Quinlan, retired in Spring 2005.

Professor Emeritus:
Dr. Jim Heimbach, Jr., retired in Spring 2000, heimbach@unca.edu

Secretary:
Mrs. Debra Robbins, RBH 224,251-6149, drobbins@unca.edu

So that must be a pretty good gig. You do your weather-guessing game on TV, then hang with the students and profs over at UNCA, working on mountainado modeling and such. Still, we must wonder if it isn’t time for the professor to go back to class.

I am very afraid of Mike Cuevas. I have proof that he may be a vampire. Occasionally on TV he smiles too big and you can see his vampire teeth. I have never seen him during the day anywhere either. That’s all the proof I need.

Through the grapevine, Mike is going to be teaching the broadcast meteorology class at UNCA, helping students improve their talent and presentation for those that wish to enter the television field.
