Poets Bigos and Tobin to read Oct. 17 at Malaprop’s

UNC Asheville’s 2010-2011 Writers at Home series continues with readings by local authors Justin Bigos and Lucy Tobin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at Malaprop’s Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St., downtown Asheville. The event is free and open to the public. Both Bigos and Tobin are instructors for the Great Smokies Writing Program.

A semifinalist for the 2010 Discovery/Boston Review Poetry Prize, Bigos is currently working on his first collection of poetry. His writing has appeared in “The Gettysburg Review,” “Ploughshares,” “The Minnesota Review,” “The Seattle Review,” “Crazyhorse,” “NY Arts,” “Agenda” and “Indiana Review.”

Tobin’s work was nominated for the anthology, “Best New Poets 2010,” and she has participated in the “Flood” and “Velcro” reading series, and the radio program, “WordPlay.” Her poems have appeared in “Salamander,” “Redline Blues” and “Pig: A Journal.”
