The Magnetic Theatre presents Brief Encounters: New Magnetic Voices 2011, an evening of short plays by local writers, scheduled to run in repertory with the world premier of Julian Vorus’s Rock Saber, at The Magnetic Field in Asheville’s River Arts District.
Brief Encounters 2011 features five original and wildly diverse short plays and one-acts by some of the best playwrights in Western North Carolina. “Presenting new plays is the most important part of our mission,“ says Steve Samuels, Artistic Director of The Magnetic Theatre. Brief Encounters 2011 is the first in what will be an annual program, featuring exciting new work by local playwrights—both known and up-and-coming. This year’s program includes works by David Brendan Hopes, Jim Julien, Ryan Madden, Ira Sargent, and Devin Walsh.
Performances are: Oct 27-29 @ 7:30pm, Nov 3-5 @ 7:30pm, Nov 10-12 @ 7:30pm, Nov 17-19 @ 7:30pm. *Brief Encounters runs in repertory with Rock Saber (opens Oct 21-22, all shows @ 10:00pm).
