PETA wants to ‘rebrand’ fish as ‘sea kittens’

Yup. Here’s the press release:

If fish were to be renamed “sea kittens,” would people be more likely to stop hurting them? PETA thinks so and is on a mission to rebrand fish as “sea kittens.” To that end, a giant “sea kitten” will greet schoolkids in Asheville on Wednesday and explain to them that sea kittens, like land kittens or puppies, are sensitive, intelligent animals who feel pain and deserve respect–and who from now on should be called “sea kittens” instead of “fish”:

Date: Wednesday, October 8

Time: 12 noon

Place: Outside Claxton Elementary School, 241 Merrimon Ave., Asheville
