Perceptual scoop: The Kratts and their creatures

Kids love animals. And when kids who love animals grow up and follow that passion, they end up like Chris and Martin Kratt, brothers who are wildly popular with the younger set because of their wild animal friends.

If you’ve never heard of Kratts Creatures, you probably don’t have young children. But you don’t have to have children to appreciate the enthusiasm for the natural world that these guys exude through their television show on PBS. After Kratts Creatures came Zoboomafoo, an animal-lovers show for pre-schoolers. And now there’s the National Geographic Channel’s Be the Creature.

These guys are real animal fanatics that love to jump right in there next to the wild animals and help kids really know what it feels like to be whatever animal it is these guys are talking about. The Kratts are most identified with lemurs. They’ve studied the endangered species for years and have used a lemur puppet as a mascot on their show.
