Health care advocacy group Life o’ Mike presents “True Stories,” tales of people’s encounters with our health care system, plus information on the myths and facts of the Affordable Care Act and a panel of experts who can answer questions about the law, living wills, disability, the new state health insurance exchange and more.
The event, 3-5 p.m. March 13, will be held in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Oak Street. It will begin with stories of people’s experiences with the health care system, and members of the audience will be encouraged to tell their stories.
At 4 p.m., myths and facts about the new Affordable Care act will be explored, followed by a question-and-answer period with a panel of health care experts.
Participating will be a representative from the NC Justice Center’s Health Access Coalition; attorney Andrew Atherton, who will speak about living wills and health care powers of attorney; disability attorney Leah Broker, who will talk about the country’s Social Security disability system; Elaine Robinson of ABIPA, who will discuss health care disparities and more.
Admission is free; donations are encouraged.
