Organic Armor here in Asheville is a great shop that makes awesomely cool costumes. You’ll see some if you go to DragonCon this weekend (but that’s another story).

Here’s the notice from the Organic Armor blog:

Starting tomorrow – 8/31, 2 scant months before HALLOWEEN, I will start posting a daily series of helpful resources and tutorials to aid in your preparation. Haven’t tried doing a series before but I have a folder stuffed with goodies that I’ve been saving for this. Stay tuned!

Here’s a description of what these guys make:

Organic Armor creates costumes for tribal fairy punks, video game priestesses, alien viking warriors and circus divas, among other things. All the pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. They look like antique metal or leather but are actually soft, light, reinforced rubber. They are durable, flexible, comfortable  and can be worn for many hours through active movement, making them suitable for performance,  clubs,  ritual or the backyard.

I'm kinda the traditional leather bustier type (on the model, not for me) but I'm warming to the soft, light, reinforced rubber.

Thanks for the post about our DIY Halloween series. I have a month's worth of goodies to share. Today's is about making showgirl style headdresses!
