One of spookiest homes in America: The Reed House in Asheville

Share

Curbly.com has the mention:
The Reed House of Asheville, NC was built in 1892 by Samuel Reed, a lawyer for George Vanderbuilt. Reed’s life was one of sadness as 5 of his children died young. Six months after his wife passed away, Mr. Reed joined her. In 1973 the home was sold and turned into a B & B known as the Biltmore Village Inn. Guests claim to hear the sounds of heavy, booted footsteps and ghostly games of pool.

My grandmother lived in that house around 1914. It was a rooming house, and her father worked on the railroad. When she was in her 80’s, we drove all over the hill above Biltmore Village looking for it unsuccessfully. Not a year after she died, I stumbled onto it. In plain sight. Not only was it still there and still called the Reed House, but it was a B and B, full of Victorian furniture. She could have walked right into her past. Never mentioned a ghost, though.
