On the streets of Ashvegas: The Social Enterprise Hub of Asheville

Share

From socenthubavl.com/, this appears to be a project of Asheville poet and lovely spirit Laura Hope-Gill, based at Grateful Steps bookstore. More as i get it:

A number of social entrepreneurs in town have been exchanging ideas in rapid fire, sharing insights and observations as to how the economy is changing and how social enterprise is the new path. Social Enterprise Hub of Asheville emerges from these conversations. Motivated by our shared commitment to conservation, sustainability, multiculturalism and permaculture (which is not a gardening term), we have identified a need for a space where others who share our obsessions can gather.  Kevin Jones, co-founder of the social enterprise hubs in San Francisco and Berkeley, has connected us with the international network of social enterprise hubs. As Asheville Social Enterprise  Hub evolves, we aim to join this network and further amplify and magnify our ideas. In doing so, we increase our opportunities for investment, network and effectiveness.
This is now home-base for Western North Carolina’s social enterprise movement. Offering books, talks, counsulting and, most important, plain old-fashioned face-to-face conversation and all the sustenance and encouragement our creativity needs to expand. This is a place where ideas can grow, where they are safe from the “Yes, but . . . ” and where they can resonate and harmonize with other ideas in the room.
We accept Buckminster Fuller’s challenge “to make the world work for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation without ecological offense or disadvantage of anyone.” We know you do, too.
