On the streets of Ashvegas: Hunter Banks mural

Share

The Asheville Citizen-Times’ Karen Chavez has deets:

Frank Smith was sick of the graffiti on the side of his Montford Avenue business.

So, he decided to fight it with fish.

A giant rainbow trout, to be exact.

Smith, owner of Hunter Banks Co., a fly-fishing shop right off Interstate 240 on Montford Avenue near downtown, has commissioned two artists to design a 32-by-61-foot mural on the side of the building. Installation began Friday and when completed by Tuesday, the painting will depict a fly-fisherman and a jumping rainbow trout in a sparkling stream, set against the famous Western North Carolina mountains.
