On the streets of Ashvegas: Clowns at Greenlife

Greenlife Grocery celebrated five years in Asheville with a customer appreciation day on Saturday. The parking lot was full, so they had Eco Trips shuttling people to the store from nearby adjacent lots. They had music and food samples outside, while inside, they had individual local businesses offering even more food for tasting. The whole place was alive. It’s pretty incredible how this store has established itself as the spot to shop and hang. Love it.

I like the convenience of it, and am glad that our town can support not just one, but two organic-ish supermarkets. The music out front is great!

But I wish the planning department had been more rigourous in looking at the original permit, which was in fact a larger renovation than described. the neighbors in back have paid a price when their street was declared a sacrifice zone. The store asked for, and got a decison on their status. But the planning department should have followed their own rules.

How do you know if you’ve encountered a REAL CLOWN in downtown? I know it’s got to be more than a wierd hat, floppy shoes, and a red nose.

Chains are bad, evil vile things, Staples is a chain and look what people think of it. Oh wait Greenlife is a different chain . . .
