Body found on the parkway
Holly Headache had a rather non-newsy news update about the dead body that police found off the Blue Ridge Parkway Saturday night. There’s still a dead body, and there’s still a suspect on the loose.
The victim was from Cleveland County, and the suspect was his neighbor. The cops say the suspect is armed and dangerous, and was last seen in a white Ford Festiva. The cops had shut down the parkway last night, but the four-mile stretch near mile marker 390 is now open, Holly told us.
Holly’s photog brought some up-close video of the trail into the woods and showed us the spot where the body was found. But there wasn’t really anything new to the report.
Military unit coming home
Members of the 391st Engineering Battalion are headed back to Western North Carolina after serving in Iraq. Some of the unit has arrived at Fort Bragg, and will be there a couple of weeks before coming home to Ashvegas.
Four members of the unit were killed by a roadside bomb, so family members are planning a big event to welcome home the soldiers. WLOSers didn’t give details on the welcome-home event other than saying it will be held the first week in May.
