Again, I feel obliged to keep up with deaths of note since nobody else around here is doing it. So I’d like to bring your attention to the death of Henry J. Thomas. Thomas, 70, died last week.
A lot of people downtown knew Thomas by sight: He could almost always be seen driving his motorized wheelchair around the sidewalks of Asheville with his stalwart companion “Chucky,” a little mutt who rode the wheelchair at Thomas’ feet.
Thomas always seemed to have a bright word for all. He will be missed. There will be a one-hour memorial service to honor him at noon on Tuesday at Jubilee.

Wonder if someone will take care of Chuckie?
Downtown Asheville will never be the same, that’s for sure. Thanks for posting the information. I know there are many who will want to come and say goodbye to a really special man.
He was a great guy and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.
