Swannanoa – Ray Gene Lummus, 64, of Swannanoa, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010.
Mr. Lummus was born December 1, 1945 in Plainview, TX, and was a resident of Buncombe County for the past 23 years.
Gene owned and operated Gene Lummus Harley Davidson, currently known as Parkway Harley Davidson for the past 23 years as well as Ghost Town Harley Davidson and Cherokee Harley Davidson. He was an avid motorcycle racer.
Gene organized Smoky Mountain Toy Run for numerous years.
He is the President of the Carolina Harley Davidson Dealers Association and a sponsor of Smoky Mountain Harley Owners Group. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Vera Taylor Lummus and brother, Roger Lummus.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Brenda Faircloth Lummus; daughter, Taylor Lummus Ledford of Swannanoa; son, Travis Lummus of Canton; brother, Bob Lummus and wife, Kay of Candler; two grandchildren, Addison Taylor Fox and Tatum Aryn Ledford; and special cousin, Verna Mae Jackson of Sunset, TX.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m., Monday at the First Baptist Church, Swannanoa with Pastor Brent Keating officiating.
