News for a Sunday

Russ Bowen coughed off camera, then got the news rolling. Here’s what he and WLOSers had:

Sept. 11 tribute
Kassandra Pride did a story about Trinity Baptist Church holding a special service to honor the victims of Sept. 11. The service honored firefighters, police officers – basically anybody with a uniform – as well as the victims. U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler was there. So was Ashvegas Mayor Terry Bellamy.

In other news…
Hendersonville police arrested and charged a man with stabbing another guy… Jury selection starts Monday in the trial of John Beavers, who is charged with shooting and killing Dr. Brian Ling inside a medical office last year… Tropical Storm Gabrielle hit Cape Hatteras, but nobody cared… The Mountain State Fair still has rides, animal shows, cooking competitions and more going on all week…
The Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival filled downtown streets with eclectic performers and artists… And there was a music concert at Hannah Flanagan’s to raise money for a woman named Ticker who is battling colon cancer.
