Being a city also doesnt mean everything down town needs to look alike either.

I remember vote against this when on council. I thought at the time the measure failed. If I remember correctly there is a set number of billboards allowed in the city limits.

Well, the entire thing is ugly and has been for a long time. Looks like there might be some kind of construction going on? 2-3 week-ends of "yard work" would go a long way toward lessening the ugly. ??

P.S. Being a "city" does not necessarily equate with everything being an eyesore.

Part of the fall out from a 1990’s City of Asheville lawsuit with the billboard companies. Something like 10 of these have been pre-approved in certain highway corridors, if… the sign companies agree to take down bunches of billboards out of residential or historical key re-development districts. Most every city in WNC prohibits these types of signs. CityCouncil actually amended their UDO to ALLOW them…
