If you spot it, we can fix it. That’s the idea behind a new mobile application in the works that will allow sidewalk sleuths to report problems they see directly to the City of Asheville over their smart phone. Imagine: you see a streetlight out or a problem pothole. You take a picture, send the location, and the city’s Public Works Department is on the way. We’re really excited about the possibility to link up with all the eyes on the street and we’re working hard to make the application both useful and user friendly.
The city has created a survey as part of helping name the new app.
We want your help in naming the application – giving it an identity and brand that will become part of Asheville’s vocabulary, so that when you see something that needs fixing, this app is the first thing that comes to mind.
Please give us a hand by taking this survey. It should take less than 5 minutes. We will announce the result as we unveil the new app. Look for updates soon!
Take the survey here. More about the app as it becomes available.

The ever growing Transient population in Asheville will keep revenue away. How? Because 50% of our tourist will have a run in with one of our enabled Transients and they won’t come back for a second visit. We need to take care of our legit homeless not Transient Moochers. So I say take pictures of all of them and send them to the city so they can be bagged, tagged and shipped off.
How about making a little fun?
Tidy Up AVL or…

Regarding Jeremiah’s concerns, the city is just looking to give this app a local name (it is a purchased app similar to SeeClickFix); it was not developed by city staff.
Kudos for trying to get more of our citizens involved in finding/fixing problems around town.
Will the public have access to the uploaded concerns …
My camera doesn’t have the memory to store all the photos of Transients walking around Asheville. Any ideas?
stay home.
Now you stop that, Murphy. Those people are weird and they smell and they basically just offend everyone by existing. FDR has every right to get the vapors whenever he or she sees someone who is not well-pressed and well-dressed and visibly prosperous.
Screw off?
Is there an app currently called City of Asheville? If not, then why not that?
Name? Here’s one – SeeClickFix, wait there’s a killer startup out there with that name already?
Oh, well, how about Public Stuff? Oh, crap, there’s another killer startup out there with that name too?
Geez, why in the world would they develop this themselves????????
Yeah, no point in reinventing the wheel.
