Update: No trespassing/ New Belgium: Rescued tags to appear in new brewery?

Share

Here’s the Sept. 24 update via a FB post from loyal reader zen:

Heads Up!

Security guard Jeff White informed me and another photographer that the New Belgium property was definitely now a ‘No Trespassing’ area and would soon be fenced off. He indicated that the police now regularly check the property and have permission to arrest trespassers without having to contact him or others representing the property owners. He was nice, but firm. A good guy and a photographer himself!

Here’s the blurb that appeared with the photo:

These shots come to you from our new site in Asheville. While these building will be coming down soon, some local artists are putting up last minute tags. Hopefully we’ll be able to save some of these and use it in the new brewery somewhere.

Ugh. No. Please no. Too many of these eye sores stay up for way too long (the abandoned BP station on Charlotte St. for example) and property owners need to be doing more to discourage this sort of thing not encouraging it.

Everything I have heard about New Belgium suggests that they will be an excellent asst to the community, but they are dropping the ball on this one.

Blech. Terrible idea. Don’t encourage them! (except for maybe Old Crow or Fowl…they’re the only ones with any measure of talent)

Are they seriously “inviting” taggers?!? That’s going to give the security guard I met with Zen down there last night fits. He says he’s getting no sleep and waiting for them to put a fence up around the property “any day now”.
